The scenario of scholarly publications among MAPIM members has shown an encouraging increase, especially in recent years. The increasing maturity of existing scientific publishers as well as the establishment of new publishers are among the contributing factors to this scenario.
In addition, various approaches, encouragements and incentives that the management of educational and research institutions try to apply to the field of writing have created a wave of awareness and injection of interest among academics and researchers to increase publishing efforts.
To ensure this vibrancy continues, MAPIM as a body that protects scholarly publishers in Malaysia took the initiative to recognize and appreciate the efforts of scientists and employees by organizing the MAPIM Awards.
In conjunction with the organization of the 2007 MAPIM Awards Ceremony which was held on 21 February 2008 in Putrajaya, the former Director General of the Department of Higher Education emphasized in his speech that the MAPIM Awards should be organized every year.
