The Environmental Performance Monitoring Committee (EPMC) at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) was established in 2016 as directive order from Department of Environment (JAS) to help the university in complying with the environmental requirements. This committee functions by convening monthly meetings, facilitating a meeting with the Kuantan Campus Director to appoint them as the EPMC Chair, and ensuring the establishment and execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Scheduled Waste Management in accordance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 and the HUM HSEMS document. Additionally, the EPMC provides guidance on environmental budgeting to both Kuantan Campus and KCDIO, ensuring the inclusion of necessary environmental facilities in infrastructure planning, identifying relevant environmental performance parameters, conducting systematic analyses of data, and communicating findings to pertinent stakeholders. Furthermore, it establishes formal communication channels for internal and external environmental reporting, promotes environmental sustainability programs, and publishes environmental sustainability reports through suitable media channels. These tasks collectively underline the EPMC’s crucial role in fostering environmental awareness and compliance within the IIUM community.
