The International Islamic University Malaysia (UIAM) in Kuantan has achieved significant success in recycling efforts, particularly during the recent Recycling Day 2.0. Led by the Environmental Preservation and Monitoring Committee (IKC EPMC), the university successfully recycled approximately 80 tons of waste out of the total 100 tons collected in 2023. This included textiles, paper, plastic, iron, aluminum, and used cooking oil, which was recycled into soap bars and liquid form.
Since its establishment in 2018, IKC EPMC has systematically managed all recycling activities, collecting between 10 to 18 tons of various types of waste annually. The committee has also collaborated with governmental, private, and non-governmental agencies, as well as SWCorp Kuantan and Alam Flora Sdn Bhd, to ensure the campus remains clean through monthly waste collection activities across faculties and residential areas.
The IKC EPMC’s efforts have garnered international recognition, highlighting their commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable waste management at UIAM Kuantan. This exemplifies the university’s dedication to promoting environmental sustainability and maintaining a clean campus.
