IIUM MY1200 2nd Edition

IIUM MY1200 2nd Edition

28th February – 3rd March 2024 | 1200km | 13,000m | 94-100 hours

IIUM is proud to announce an upcoming ultra-distance cycling event in honour of World Rare Disease Day. We set a record in 2020 by organising the longest cycling event ever held in Malaysia, covering a distance of 1200km.

This year, we are partnering with the Malaysia Lysosomal Disease Association (MLDA) to hold this self-supported cycling event from February 28th to March 3rd, 2024. The event will start and finish at IIUM Gombak, with 100 ultra-cyclists already signed up to participate. The route will include 11 checkpoints, featuring a long climb in Cameron Highlands, a stop at IIUM Kuantan, an off-road segment in Terapai, and a climb to Genting Sempah before returning to IIUM Gombak.

At IIUM, we are committed to participating in activities that benefit the community, in line with our Communiversity initiative and flagships. Through this event, we aim to raise donations and support for rare disease patients and their families while also connecting with the cycling community in the country.

The event is being led by Prof Dato’ Dr Ahmad Hafiz Zulkifli, with strong support from the Sports Development Centre led by Dr Mahyudin Daud. IIUM is sending a team of four cyclists for the event.

We invite you to join us at Saidina Hamzah Stadium in IIUM on 28th February from 3-4 pm to show your support for a worthy cause and help us make a positive impact.
