A total of 20 students from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM) in Kuantan have organised a gotong-royong programme under the guidance of Prof. Madya Dr. Zaleha Kassim, lecturer of the ‘Usrah in Action’ course. The programme, entitled “Sentuhan Kasih Seberang Balok,” was initiated by the head of the village and attended by the members of the Beserah DUN Committee. The programme is aimed at cleaning up the surroundings of the river and the coast of Seberang Balok, as well as providing exposure to the village community about the extinction of the species of trees in Malaysia. Among the activities being carried out are gotong-royong cleaning at Seberang Balok Beach, Surau Qariah Seberangan Balok, and the river area. Through this programme, the relationship between students and the local community can be fostered. The program was also attended by several workers from the SWCorp SolidResidues Management and Public Cleaning Association of Pahang State. SWCorp has also provided cleaning equipment, such as gloves and garbage plastic. Thirty students of Astana SMK also attended the programme, which lasted from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
