Applicants are required to submit clear and legible copies of the following passport pages:

1. Passport Biodata Page
   The passport biodata page containing the applicant’s photograph, full name, passport number, date of birth, nationality, and other personal details.
2. Pages Containing Visa or Immigration Information
   All passport pages containing visas, entry and exit stamps, residence permits, or any other immigration-related endorsements must be submitted. Blank pages are not required.

Important: Applicants from the following countries must submit copies of all pages of their passport, including blank pages:
• Libya
• Iran
• Iraq
• Somalia
• Sudan
• Syria
• Yemen

The passport must have a minimum validity period of eighteen (18) months at the time of application.

Note: For one-off Student Pass applications, applicants are strongly encouraged to ensure that their passport remains valid for at least twelve (12) months beyond the duration of their study programme. For example, if the programme duration is 36 months, the recommended passport validity is 48 months.

Any observation or amendment page showing passport extensions, name clarifications, corrections, endorsements, or previous passport numbers must also be included.

A copy of your offer letter is required to apply for a student visa in Malaysia. If you are making an online application, you will only be able to fill out the form and submit an application once you have received a letter of acceptance/offer from the Academic Management and Admission Division (Undergraduate) or Centre for Postgraduate Studies (Postgraduate).

Please note that the VAL is only applicable to students residing outside Malaysia. Applicants who are currently residing in Malaysia under a Social Pass or Visit Pass are required to exit Malaysia before applying for an VAL from their country of origin. Students are strongly advised NOT TO ENTER Malaysia while the VAL application is being processed as this may result in the rejection of the application by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Please refer to the photo guidelines below when preparing and submitting your passport photograph for visa processing. Compliance with these requirements is essential, as the same photograph will be used in the Malaysian Immigration system and printed on your i-Kad (International Student Identity Card).

Applicants are strongly advised to ensure that the photograph meets all specified requirements to avoid delays in processing or rejection of the visa application. Adherence to these guidelines will also help prevent any issues when the i-Kad is inspected by law enforcement or immigration authorities.

The photograph must be taken by a professional photographer at a photo studio to ensure high image quality, proper lighting, and full compliance with the prescribed specifications. Failure to meet the required standards may result in the photograph being rejected and a new photograph being requested.

1. In Color: Your photo must be in color and not black and white.
2. White Background:  The background for the photo must be plain white to ensure that you stand out clearly.
3. Size Specifications: The photo must be 45mm high and 35mm wide, should not be trimmed or altered from a larger image to fit these dimensions.
4. No Editing, No Selfies: The photo should not be digitally altered in any way (e.g., no filters or image ehancements) and should not be self-taken.
5. No Eyeglasses:  You should remove your glasses to avoid glare or reflection and to make sure your eyes are clearly visible.
6. Clear Contrast: You should stand out from the background, meaning your clothes should not be of a similar color to the background.
7. Free from Shadows: The lighting should be even and balanced to prevent shadows on the face or background.
8. Facing Forward: You must be facing camera directly, with face and shoulders squarely aligned towards the camera.
9. Lips Closed: Your mouth should be closed so that the facial features are neutrally presented.
10. Individual Photo: The photo must contain only the person applying for visa; no other people or objects should be in the picture.
11. Headgear Rules: No hats or head covering, except for those worn for religious reasons, and they should not obscure any facial features.
12. Free from ‘Redeye’: The photo should not have ‘redeye’, which often caused by the flash photography.
13. Facial Features Visible: The entire face should be visible from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head (crown), including the hairline.
14. Recent Photo: The photograph must be taken within the last six (6) months to ensure it reflects your current appearance.

Applicants are required to complete and submit the Health Declaration Form as part of the student visa application process. For online applications, a scanned copy of the completed and duly signed form must be uploaded to the application system.

Applicants who are travelling from or have recently been in a country classified as having a risk of Yellow Fever transmission are required to obtain the necessary Yellow Fever vaccination before travelling to Malaysia. Such applicants must present a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate/Card (International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis) upon arrival in Malaysia and may be required to produce it during immigration clearance at the point of entry.

Countries or areas where “a risk of yellow fever transmission is present,” as defined by the World Health Organization, are countries or areas where “yellow fever has been reported currently or in the past, plus vectors and animal reservoirs currently exist” (see the current country list within the International Travel and Health publication (Annex 1) at www.who.int/ith/en/index.html).

You need to provide copies of all academic records, certificates or transcripts of studies undertaken for your the previous level of study.

• No-Objection Certificate (NOC) – Sudanese Nationals
  No-Objection Certificate (NOC) is only required if the student is from Sudan. This document must be applied by the candidate and can only be collected from the Sudanese Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

• Letter of Eligibility (LOE) – Iranian Nationals
  A Letter of Eligibility (LOE) is required for applicants holding Iranian nationality. The applicant must apply for the LOE through the Iranian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Once the application is approved, the Embassy will transmit the LOE information directly to the relevant authorities through the established channel. Applicants and university representatives are not required to collect a physical copy of the LOE from the Embassy.

• No Objection Letter (NOL) – Omani Nationals
  A No Objection Letter (NOL) is required for applicants holding Omani nationality. The applicant must apply for the NOL through the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Kuala Lumpur. Upon approval, the Embassy will provide the NOL details directly to the relevant authorities. Applicants are not required to submit a separate copy unless specifically requested.

Applicants are advised to initiate the application for these documents as early as possible, as additional processing time may be required before the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) application can be finalized.
