Deans’ Council Meeting
ODRAI, is responsible in planning of all academic programmes. The Office of Knowledge of Change and Advancement (KCA) assists ODRAI in the process of establishing new academic programmes by the Centre of Studies although it is not an office under ODRAI’s purview. ODRAI works closely with the kulliyyahs, institutes or centres in every step of establishing new programmes.
New programmes are proposed and discussed in the Deans Council Meeting (DCM) in which Deputy Rector (Academic and Internationalisation) is the chairman, before being brought for endorsement in the Senate. While the University’s programmes have always been crafted based on the vision and mission of the University, pragmatic changes be it locally and internationally, require undergraduate academic programmes to be continually reviewed to e ensure IIUM remains a prominent player in higher education across the world.
ODRAI always ensures that matters pertaining to teaching and learning are given priority. To make sure that the teaching and learning are consistent with the curriculum, any review of new or existing course outlines/courses/programmes must be done by following the laid-out process. The Kulliyyahs must take necessary actions such as getting advice from professional bodies, conducting surveys, and studying the current market needs and requirements with guidance from KCA. Any appointment of external assessors for curriculum review is proposed to the Senate and endorsed yearly.
