A mobility program includes a Credited Exchange Program, Research, Internship and Visiting Program.
You need to fill in IIUM Application Form (click here) and submit through email at iceo@iium.edu.my with the checklist documents required. Uncomplete document will not be process.
The deadline for each semester:
- Semester 1 (October) – 31st May
- Semester 2 (March) – 31st October
- Semester 3 (July) – 31st March
The minimum period of study is one (1) semester and the maximum is one (1) year which is consist two (2) semester only.
You must an active and full-time student at your home university, have a sufficient fund to support for this program, must abide by government of Malaysia/IIUM rules/regulations and have a good English proficiency.
Please refer HERE (https://www.iium.edu.my/v2/academics/) for the kulliyyah and courses offered by each kulliyyah. However, you may email iceo@iium.edu.my if your choices of kulliyyah did not provide the list of courses yet. We will assist you later.
The processed of the offer letter is one (1) month prior from the deadline of submission application form. Once the offer letter is issued, iceo@iium.edu.my will email to students.
You may lay back and doing nothing. Once the offer letter is issued, we will email the list and things need to be taken care. Do not purchase the flight ticket until be advised.
You must notify IIUM by sending the withdrawal letter to iceo@iium.edu.my. The withdrawal letter must be from your sending institution.
The tuition fee is different according to kulliyyah and program. We will advise the fee once the offer letter is issued.
Yes. For IIUM partner universities, the tuition fee is waived. The others fees chargeable based on MoU/MoA agreement. Meanwhile for non-partner universities, the students need to pay a full fee include the tuition fee.
There are two (2) ways of tuition fee available:
- Payment via Flywire (International Currency) – The procedures of how to using Flywire (FAQ) will be email together with the offer letter. This payment method only applicable for tuition fees only!
- Payment via Telegraphic Transfer or 3rd Party Transfer – The details of IIUM bank account will be email together with the offer letter.
IIUM did not provide any scholarship for inbound student exchange program. The cost of the program must be borne by the students.
The payment of fees must be paid before the student coming to IIUM. Please refer to fee structure email by iceo@iium.edu.my.
Student must pay the compulsory fee such as medical checkup, cover not insurance and mahallah fees. This is to easier for medical checkup process, buying cover note insurance and mahallah check in.
Before coming to IIUM, the student is compulsory to apply for Visa Approval Letter (VAL) through Education Malaysia Government Services (EMGS) at https://visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my/. This is mandatory for student who are coming for more than one (1) month.
No. Even though some countries have more than one (1) month Visa Social Pass expiry, it is not advisable to use it for the purpose of study. Once the Malaysia Immigration find out about it, both student and IIUM will be wrongly accused for the misuse of visa.
Student may refer to the guidelines and policies in EMGS website HERE (https://visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my/). Besides, iceo@iium.edu.my will email the Student Visa Application User Guide to student together with the offer letter.
Student need to email the documents required by the EMGS and Malaysia Immigration to iceo@iium.edu.my. The office of International Affairs will act as a 3rd party to solve the issue occur. The progress of VAL application can be check HERE (https://visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my/emgs/application/searchForm/).
Student must require the Single Entry Visa (SEV) at Malaysia Embassy in their home country. For those country who did not require the SEV, the student may use VAL to enter the Malaysia. Kindly refer to Malaysia Embassy at your home country to confirm whether you need to get the SEV or not. Another part is, you only may purchase the flight ticket once your VAL application is ready to be downloaded.
Student are not allowed to enter Malaysia during the VAL is progress for any occasion. Once you have entered Malaysia during that time, your VAL application will be rejected by the Malaysia Immigration. To resume the application, student need to prepared the appeal letter and proof of exit stamp from Malaysia and enter stamp of your country.
No. The Office of International Affairs, IIUM Gombak no longer provide a transportation to fetch the student from the airport. The student may use public transport such as taxi, bus, grab car or LRT to go to IIUM Gombak. To reach IIUM Kuantan Campus, student may book another flight from KLIA to Kuantan Airport or Johor Bahru Senai International Airport for IIUM Pagoh Campus.
The range price for the taxi and grab car might be RM100 and above. For the bus and LRT is about RM50 and above. These range price will change over time.
Once the student arrived at IIUM Gombak, we will provide a buddy to assist student to register the mahallah. ICEO will provide the buddy contact details once the student landed at KLIA airport.
Yes. IIUM Gombak Campus provide two (2) types of room:
- Single Room – RM360 include electricity
- Quad Room – RM165 include electricity
Yes. However, the student needs to find the accommodation by their self and the cost must be borne by the student. The range price for apartment is from RM1000 until RM2000 based on location.
Student may refer HERE () of mahallah choices for booking. However, it is subject to availability given by the Residential Service Department (RSD). ICEO will book a mahallah for the student before student arrival.
Yes, it is mandatory. Student pass is a multiple entry visa which give you the permission to remain in Malaysia for the purposes of study at an approved institution on an approved course.
The student needs to apply through visa unit at IIUM. ICEO will email and do short briefing the require documents for student pass application.
The student should start apply for student pass from the first day of arrival in Malaysia. The student has only 30 days from the arrival date to complete and submit the documents for student pass.
If you submit a few days or after the deadline, you will be charge for special pass since there is not enough time for student pass processing. The cost must be borne by the student.

The student pass process might take two (2) until three (3) weeks from the date of submission to visa unit. The student will be received holding letter while passport was taken away for the student pass process. It is advisable for student not to go far away from Gombak in that time to avoid future problem.

Once the student has received the final exam schedule, student may book their return flight ticket to home country. Then, the student required to submit their passport and documents for visa cancellation. The visa cancellation might take 2 weeks from the departure date.
Malaysia only have two (2) season which is summer season and rainy season. The summer season usually started from March until October and rainy season is November until February. Thus, you may prepare the comfortable attire based on the season given.

There are four (4) ways to get the information:

Yes. Student may refer HERE. This is the list of partner university that have MoU/MoA agreement with IIUM. If the student have another university not included in the list, they may do so.
Student need to contact directly the interested university whether they open an application or not by email to them.
Student need to fit the requirement below before apply:
- An active and full time students of IIUM.
- 1st semester of 1st year and final semester of final year are NOT allowed.
- CGPA 3.0 and above.
- Have a strong financial and fund support.
Student may email to iceo@iium.edu.my for further assistant regarding documentation process and nomination to interested university. At the same time, please inform your kulliyyah so they aware your plan to join the program.
Please download the IIUM documents HERE. Kindly get the sign from the kulliyyah and submit complete documents with the additional checklists to iceo@iium.edu.my. Incomplete documents will be rejected.
The deadline of applications are different based on university and semester.
The process is different based on the university. Usually it takes 1 or 2 months for the university to issues the offer letter. Some university will email to iceo@iium.edu.my and some of them will email directly to student once the offer letter is issue.
Student may proceed with:
- Buying insurance and flight ticket
- Apply visa – Please refer to each embassy for international student
- Fill in and submit IIUM document to iceo@iium.edu.my
- Check out mahallah
Please refer directly to the website of host university. If it’s not available yet, you may email to iceo@iium.edu.my for assistant. ICEO will request from the host university but be reminded it will take time to acquire from them.
Student may get an advise from the Head of Department (HOD) or Academic Advisor of kulliyyah before submit the application to ICEO.
A credit hour transfer availability will be decide and confirm by Head of Department (HOD) or Academic Advisor. Thus, that is why student need to discuss and get approval from HOD and Academic Advisor first before proceed with the application.
Student have two (2) options whether:
- Withdraw from the application.
- Proceed with the application but in return from the program, student need to extend one (1) semester.
Regrettably, no. IIUM did not provide any scholarship or one off money to the student who join the exchange program.
It depends on the early agreement of MARA/JPA/PTPTN. To confirmed, please liaise with the them before proceed with the application.
Student may find the financial support from the outsource of IIUM or parent financial support.
Student do not need to pay tuition fee at host university IF they are IIUM partner university. However, if the host university are not IIUM partner, student need to pay full fees.
Student need to pay the flight ticket, accommodation, insurance, visa, meals and cost living at the host university. These fees must be borne by the student.
Yes. Student are mandatory to pay IIUM tuition fees even though student are away for that semester. This is because, student are still active and full time IIUM student while joining the program.
The student account will be block. Student will not be allow to do pre-registration for the next semester until they pay the fees.
No. Student are not allow to register any subject at IIUM while joining the exchange program at host university. The student status will be change from ‘active’ to ‘student exchange’ during that time.
- Student are mandatory update ICEO team and kulliyyah the arrival date after finish the program by email.
- Student need to submit mobility documents to iceo@iium.edu.my prior two (2) weeks after arrival in Malaysia:
- Mobility Report
- Host university Transcript and Certificate
Because the student status still as a ‘student exchange’. Student need to request kulliyyah assistance to register the course manually during that time.
The status only automatically changes when the new semester start. Thus, both ICEO office and kulliyyah are not capable to change before that.
